Releasing Stress and Finding Joy – the Power of Purna Yoga

Aadil’s 2012 Workshop Qualifies for 8  hours of Anatomy Training

Purna Yoga was designed for fully realizing one’s life purpose, living in a state of constant connection with the joy of the soul, and using each moment to connect with the now. When we are fully connected in the now the stresses of our life melt and we feel both calm and focused.
World renowned teacher Aadil Palkhivala has planned a weekend retreat that will cover all facets of Purna Yoga including meditation, asana and pranayama, applied philosophy, nutrition, and lifestyle.

The practice of asana will include standing poses to empower your legs, inversions to undo the burden of gravity, twists and backbends to re-charge your digestive system and bring youth and flexibility back into your spine. By the end of this workshop you will feel more focused, more energized, revitalized and joyously willing to live the rest of your life.
Learn the subtle and deeper aspects of yoga so that your practice may become more nourishing and personally rewarding.

Join Aadil as he guides us in asana to prepare the body for pranayama, the fifth limb of Asthanga Yoga. The practice of pranayama helps the nervous system to both cleanse and strengthen itself. When the nervous system is in our control, we are able to perceive the causes of our physical and psychological tensions. With asana, we learn to control the body and keep it still; and with pranayama, we learn to control the mind and nervous system. All Levels welcome. $85

Sunday 9:30am to 12:30pm
Healing the Neck, Shoulders & Upper Back: Trusting Your Yoga for Self Care

Most of us carry tension in the neck, shoulders, and upper back. Because we hold tension in our necks and shoulders, we shrink blood vessels and thereby create pain and stiffness in this area, often leading to headaches and fatigue. This tension in our upper spine reduces our ability to think clearly, to communicate with ourselves and others, and express what we need to say. You will learn simple and effective innovations for releasing tension in these key areas to promote a stronger and clearer mind-body. All levels welcome. $95

Full workshop Discount Price: $340 before June 10, 2012. Individual classes priced as marked.

Testimonial

I don’t think the term “Master Teacher” applies to very many people. Who qualifies as a master teacher? Aadil Palkhivala is one person who definitely has earned the right to use this term. He’s been teaching for around 30 years, with some of the country’s most popular teachers as his students.  The number of famous yoga teachers who have studied with Aadil is a list too large to write. I’ve been studying with Aadil since 2002 when he first came to Kansas City. From the first moment he had us all gather close around him, I could feel the love, peace, and kindness of his essence. He wasn’t trendy or flashy.  He has the presence of a spiritual master. He was pure, traditional, and someone who was carrying the lineage of his teachers BKS Iyengar and Sri Aurobindo with a genuine heart. Please don’t miss a rare opportunity to study with Aadil. You will leave his presence transformed.

Aadil Palkhivala

For nearly thirty years, Aadil has had a reputation as a “teacher of teachers.” He has a unique teaching style, mixing melodious instructions with recitations of poetry and philosophical insights with in-the-moment humor. Aadil began the study of yoga with B.K.S. Iyengar at the age of 7; later introduced to the Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother at age of 10. When Aadil was twenty, he embarked on his first teaching tour of Europe and North America. Two years later, Iyengar awarded him the Advanced Yoga Teacher’s Certificate.

Aadil and his wife, Savitri, are the founders and directors of internationally-renowned Yoga Centers in Bellevue, Washington and The College of Purna Yoga, a 200-hour, 500-hour and Certificate-Level teacher training program licensed by the State of Washington and Yoga Alliance Certified.

Aadil is the author of the book, Fire of Love: For Students of Life, For Teachers of Yoga, and is an “asana expert” for Yoga Journal magazine and website. He is regularly featured in My Yoga Mentor email newsletter and is constantly educating himself in his passion for teaching the “whole yoga.”

Often a lustrous inner dawn shall come lighting the chambers of the slumbering mind; a sudden bliss shall run through every limb and nature with a mightier Presence fill.
– Sri Aurbindo

Purna Yoga

Purna” means “complete,” and Purna Yoga distills and integrates the vastness of yoga into an invaluable set of tools for transformation and healing.  Reminding us that yoga is far more than a system of exercise, Purna Yoga offers wisdom and techniques for the union of the body and the mind with the spirit.  Using awareness, precision, and concentration, Purna Yoga inspires the evolution from our lower nature to our Divine Self.  Purna Yoga is the art of loving yourself by living from the heart.

Purna Yoga practitioners learn alignment-based asana, pranayama, and Purna Yoga Meditation (the art of aligning inner energies for transformation), along with nutrition and yogic philosophy, adapted for our lifestyles today.  Like a tuning fork, Purna Yoga aligns our entire being with the vibration of truth and the Divine essence within us and all around us.

The lineage of Purna Yoga is based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, the Vedas, Patanjali, B.K.S. Iyengar, and the systems of Ayurvedic, Chinese and Western nutrition, synthesized by the personal experience of Aadil Palkhivala and Savitri, the founders of Purna Yoga.  With its roots in the past and its reach into the future, Purna Yoga helps create the world which we have all vision.
