Will Yoga Work For Me?
Anyone may practice yoga. Some want to keep their bodies fit and supple. Others want relief from back or joint pain, injuries or stress. Others want to feel the joy and energy yoga imparts. Hatha Yoga helps free people from limiting beliefs, even those who feel they are too old, too stiff, or too out of shape.

What are the benefits of Yoga?
There are many benefits of practicing yoga, here are ten to name a few:

l. You'll feel more relaxed and learn to stay relaxed.
2. Your overall muscle tone improves as well as alignment.
3. You'll add vitality to your spine, improving all systems of the body, especially the glands and nerves.
4. Digestion improves; gas and bloating lessens.
5. Your lungs expand, increasing oxygen intake.
6. You'll sleep better.
7. You'll be less tired during the day with higher energy.
8. Your immune system will strengthen.
9. You'll learn to set aside time for yourself.
10. You'll learn to trust yourself more.

What is Iyengar Yoga?
The Iyengar (pronounced Eye-yin-gar) approach to Hatha Yoga combines the classical soft yoga with strength, stamina, and flexibility, and correct body alignment. Standing poses, unique to the Iyengar method build strong legs to stabilize and align the pelvis and spine.

Isn't Yoga a religion?
No. It's a philosophy that has endured 5,000 years. The word means union or joining. With increased awareness, the poses become meditation-in-action with awareness of the breath flowing through the body. Physical tension and imbalances are brought to attention and begin to release.

I have a health challenge. Can I still do Yoga?
Performed properly with a qualified teacher, the therapy of yoga movement often benefits physical conditions. Many students find health improves as a result of improved alignment, flexibility or strength. Discuss any issues of health with your medical professional and your teacher prior to starting your class.

Q. What if I'm too stiff?
A. Our teachers will offer alternate poses to help you learn at your own pace.

Q. What if I cannot do a certain yoga pose?
A. We will never embarrass or ridicule you but find one that works for your body and skill. We create a safe environment where each student learns and absorbs at an individual level.

Q. What if I have an injury or illness?
A. Talk to your teacher to adjust to your situation.

Q. Why do I feel nervous about coming to my first class?
A. It's all new and different. It's honest to admit to the fear often associated with a new experience. Again, our teachers go out of their way to never compare you to others or make you feel self-conscious. Yoga, ultimately, is about healing self-consciousness to transform it to self-confidence.

Q. What do they wear?
A. Wear comfortable exercise clothes that are not too baggy so your teacher may see mis-alignments. You will practice in bare feet.

Q. Do I need to bring a mat?
A. We provide all equipment at the studio.

Q. One of my friends felt humiliated by a yoga teacher. (not your school.)
A. We create a safe environment. Never is there verbal, emotional o or physical abuse. Sexual references are strictly not allowed, ever. Our first duty is to create harmlessness to allow students to let go, feel protected, and absorb the healing and empowerment of yoga.
